Sofia Smeds is a Helsinki-based actor who graduated with a Master of Arts in Theatre from the Degree Programme in Theatre Arts (Näty) at Tampere University in 2021. In her artistic work, Smeds explores contemporary acting practices and techniques and the corporeal-artistic emancipation of the actor. She has worked under pioneering directors and has also created her own performances. Smeds has appeared as a guest artist at the Finnish National Theatre, Turku City Theatre, Tampere Workers’ Theatre, and Theatre Takomo. Her most significant independent production is Kun on tunteet, written, directed, and performed together with Inke Koskinen (Theatre Jurkka, 2021). In addition to her theatre work, Smeds has acted in numerous student and independent films and appeared in television series. Her most notable television role is Anni in the series Atlantis Pasila (YLE, 2026).
